Notes by Rob Buran:
Brand X opened for George Benson. They're an interesting jazz-rock combination, a rather avant-garde sound. I was particularly interested in speaking with them because Phil Collins had been a founding member. The show put on by percussionist Morris Pert is something to experience. Again this was a press conference format with many people in the room. Consequently it produced shorter, more brief answers as they were interrogated, which explains why the questions are part of the track; I couldn't separate them from the answers. Doug Lieberman asks how would they define their style, as jazz-rock? Charlie Koch suggests "fusion." Fusion was the name that surfaced in the 70's in the music world for "jazz-rock." Peter Robinson agrees only to be corrected by Morris Pert. Note the mercury-vapor lights.
Track 30. Brand X. November 2, 1978/PSUC Fieldhouse. Peter Robinson explains changes in personnel Brand X and mentions Phil's (Collins) commitments to Genesis.
Track 31. Brand X. November 2, 1978/PSUC Fieldhouse. Peter Robinson and Morris Pert discuss musical fusion versus fission.
