segueman sez: The sound qty is pretty much what you'd expect for FM broadcast keeping in mind 1977. Can't tell for sure if it's SB or mics but it's good stereo. The band is clear, but Peter is be low in the mix. But just a bit. Don't know if it's Steve Hunter or Robert Frip but somebody on lead guitar is having a GOOD NIGHT. I had completely forgotten how many covers were included until I got to "Ain't That Peculiar" and suddenly a flood of memories came back. Apparently, the decision was made that they weren't going to pad the set with any Genesis material. And since at the time Peter only had the one solo album, in order for the show to be more than 35 mins long... hence the covers.
My reply: I wish Peter played more Genesis songs with this band. He really seemed to stray away from Genesis material during his solo tours.
Graeme Wright sez: When Peter left Genesis after the Lamb Lies Down tour nobody expected either the band or Peter himself to flourish the way they did. Genesis promoted Phil Collins to lead vocalist and went on to record another nine studio albums. adapting their style to become more radio and MTV friendly. Peter went the opposite way and recorded a series of solo albums, often without titles, and film soundtracks which challenged not only his songwriting abilities but also to create a distinctive sound and embrace new technology. This was recorded just after the release of his debut, untitled solo, affectionately known as 'car' after the cover image of Peter in a car and contains most of the big numbers from that album. There are also a few from the, then unreleased second album ('Scratch') which showed him taking a slightly different musical path.
